Spring Break!

Well we headed to Sunny Florida on
spring Break! Everyone was excited. Dean had to work so he couldn't go with us. We missed him!

Of course there was lots and lots of fishing that took place..

We headed out one day to a local park. We had a little picnic and the kids just 'explored.'

These tress are everywhere in Florida. I Love them!

Poor Braeden had a splinter. So Dr. Gampa was trying to remove it with his assistant Sophia.

Disney was on our list of things to do too!

Our church did a Gas Buy Down today! We had a huge turn out. This was an awesome way to give back to the community while showing God's Love!

After being unemployed for over a year, Dean started a job today. Thank you God! It's not the computer job that he is wishing for but that's okay. As many of you know, Dean chose to go back to school when IP closed. We just felt like that was what he was supposed to do at that point. It has been a long road filled with lots of questions and disappointments. But, those things can only make us stronger! I think God has definitely been trying to teach us something during this season of our lives. We have grown so much stronger in our faith, and have had to rely totally on HIM. I've come to realize that Stuff doesn't matter. It's all about his plan for our lives. We have had to submit totally to Him. We know that something good is going to come from this. We are just holding on tight, taking the bumps as they come and anticipating the reward that's to come!

Well, if you remember a while back I posted pictures of Sophie's new 'castle bed.' That little bed lasted for a bit. Then she decided she wanted a big girl bed like her brothers. Luckily I had saved an old daybed that Madison used when she was little. So we got it out of the garage, cleaned it up a little and now we have one happy little girl!

My sweet Braeden came in from outside with this daffodil. I love spring when the flowers are starting to bloom! I thought it was so sweet that he thought of me. He brought this in and then went and got one of his little bottles, put some water in it and stuck the flower in. He sat it up on my dresser. I love that little guy!

Okay, I knew today was coming. These days roll around once a year for all my littles. My baby girl is three today. Three. It's kind of that in between year. She's not a baby and she's not a big girl yet. (Well according to her she is) It seems so long ago that I held my itty bitty baby, and sniffed that newborn smell. Ahh...

Princess Sophia woke up to her favorite this morning...cinnamon rolls. She was so excited that today was her birthday. She associates her birthday with a 'party.' Well, we aren't having her party until next weekend. So we did a few little things to celebrate today.
Sophia can brighten any one's day! She is so sweet, I could eat her up! I tell her that all the time. She even tells me that now! I'm so thankful that God blessed us with her. She is a true gift. I love watching her each day as she takes in what's around her and learns something new. I know she will continue to grow, and get bigger and smarter and I will enjoy it as we go. This line from one of our favorite books sums it up...

Today is also Superbowl Sunday. You know Madison was born on Superbowl Sunday. We had a tailgate party after church today. What fun! My awesome husband made some pretty cool props for the service!

Tonight we went to Lou and Dawn's for a Superbowl party. Sophie was pleasantly surprised to open another present! And when we got home she ate some of her puppy cake.

Bandages and Bird Feeders

Sophia and her daddy made some bird feeders for the yard. She was so excited to do this. She was all into it!

Okay, and now for the bandage part. Mr. Braeden came downstairs the other day looking kind of pale. He was very calm and holding his finger tight. He proceded to tell us how he cut his finger trying to destroy a pencil. I asked to see it and I got totally freaked out. And that in turn scared him. I thought for sure we were going to have to make a trip to the ER. But dad got him all fixed up and all was good. I just had to take pictures of the scene. I have to hand it to him he is very creative. He was upstairs trying to take care of things himself, making his own band-aid and all!

I am officially the mom of a sixteen year old! Madison turned 16 yesterday. She is such a great kid! I am so proud to be her mom. I just adore her! She has some of the best qualities you could possibly want in a teenager! I am a little biased but it's true! I adore her! Keep reaching for the stars baby girl. Live out your dreams! They can come true! Just stay focused on God and He will keep your paths straight! I am enjoying this journey with you. It's just awesome!

The kids had a dinner theater at church last night to raise money for Winterfest. We had a wonderful turnout. I'm so excited that so many people wanted to come out and support our youth. We even had an auction! The kids were auctioned off to go and do some 'chores' for whoever bidded on them. Such a neat idea. I think all of the kids got a job. We even had a little bidding war going on:)

Sophie just had her Christmas program for school. Yeah, I know it's a little late. It had to be cancelled back in December due to the snow. And the kids had practiced their little songs and were so excited. So they got to perform them last night. They were so cute!

Oh Gosh, today was a big day around here. We took Sophie's crib down. I always get sad when I do this. I know it has to happen at some point. It just makes me realize my baby is growing up...too quickly it feels like! So we took it down and put up the cutest little toddler bed. She calls it her 'castle' bed. Perfect for her! She was such a big girl. She was so excited. She got right in it and went to sleep!

Tonight we also celebrated Pa's birthday. I'm so glad we could all get together. He seemed to have really enjoyed himself. I love him!

Well, here we are at the end of another year. I thank God for the many blessings He has provided this year. This year has definitely been hard. But I've always heard this will only make us stronger. And we are so looking forward to the great things He has in store for us!
Tonight was pretty low key around our house. Lou, Dawn and Jack came over. Danny stopped by for a little bit since his crew is gone. We played a little Just Dance and laughed at ourselves so hard! Of course the kids had to stay up to watch 'the ball drop.' I remember doing this with my sisters when we were younger. These days I'm doing good to be up at 10:30!

Wow! God can speak to you in so many different ways! I recently had one of those experiences. And I'm so glad!
Have you ever been in a situation where you felt like you have been treated wrong, accused of things that were not true? There were things being said and things that were happening that you just couldn't believe. I have. The only thing I could do was pray about it and try to be the christian that I know God would have me to be. But all along I wanted the truth to come out some way. As many of you know, I love to read blogs. One night I sat down at my computer and came across a blog that I have never read before. There was a post on there that spoke right to me! I will try to paraphrase it for you...
Sometimes we want to hold court and be the judge in certain situations. We want to gather evidence and have our questions ready for the accused party. We wait and wait for the guilty party to be charged. Sometimes we get so angry with what is happening because we feel the other party shows so little care for what they have done or the disrespect they continue to exhibit. Anger and judgement are not the answers.
It is not our place to be the judge. We are so wrong with this attitude. We are wrong to have a desire for them to pay for what they are doing. We have no right to look at their faults and their mess-ups, without looking hard at our own. We need to show love and compassion and a concern for the direction they are headed. Being consumed by this just lead to making sure they were brought to justice. We can't do that! God looks at everyones sin just the same. One persons sin is just as ugly and appalling to Him as another's sin. Even though feeling this way, we can't condone their actions, but we have to be done condemning the person. We don't love what they are doing but we love them. The same God who looks down at their sin looks down at mine too. The same Blood spilled for everyones sins. The same forgiving and gracious God who loves me unconditionally, loves them too. The same God commands me to love others in the same way.
Okay, I don't even know if I did that justice. And maybe you are like what is she talking about. But I wanted to share... When I read that post I was like Wow! I needed to read that. I think HE wanted me to come across that when I did. So I am choosing Love! And leaving the rest up to Him!

We couldn't get together with Dean's dad on Christmas day. So they came over on Monday. Braeden had already left so he wasn't here. We had a good time. Sophie is always happy when someone comes over. She loves to take them to her room to play. So Mrs. Betty was the lucky one today. She got to cook and wash dishes at the 'new' kitchen!

Braeden was so excited today. He is headed to Florida! We were going but decided not to. Then the snow came, and he thought the plans were going to change. Gampa and Mamaw decided to still go. They sure made this guy happy!

So part of the family is headed south and we are here experiencing snow and freezing temps! This snow is something else. The kids ventured out some. Sophia hasn't expressed that much of an interest in playing in the snow. We shall see!

Merry Christmas

Happy Birthday Jesus! Today was a wonderful day! I'm so grateful I was able to spend the day with the ones I love. It was such a joy seeing the excitement and smiles on my kids faces. However, the day wasn't just about gifts, it was about celebrating the birth of our Savior!
Here are some little snap shots of our busy day!

Braeden was so sweet...he disappeared for a minute and came back with a gift for me and Dean. He was so excited to give them to us. And I got the cutest little card he had made. At the end he was asking if he could 'Please' go to Florida! It was priceless!

We had a little bit of company later in the morning. Meme came over !

After our morning at home we went to my parents house. We had a delicious lunch! I was so glad Pa came to spend time with us today.

~So the Word became human and made His home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen His glory, the glory of the Father's one and only Son. John 1:14~

Christmas Eve

Today was spent wrapping presents, and just being with my family. I love the warm cozy feeling of having everybody here, just hanging out. Dean had a friend stop by today and he made a comment about us just 'being' and hanging out as a family. It's a nice feeling. Tonight we got together with my dad's side of the family for dinner. It was a little different this year, we were missing Ma. So there were some tears but there was laughter too. And believe it or not a ladybug showed up! I love how God puts little things in place to make us smile!

After dinner we headed to Lou and Dawn's house. We ate some more, watched the all time favorite 'Christmas Vacation' and just hung out for a while.

Then it was time to put little ones to bed. I still have two who were excited to leave Santa some milk and cookies!

I have so much to be thankful for. The past 9 months or so have been hard. But God has surely provided for our family, and I am so grateful. Of course there have been days when I was worried or scared or didn't know what to do. The devil tries to come in and whisper things in my ear and make me believe them. He can use people, circumstances, just about anything to get you down. Some attacks were right out of the blue and I'm like where did that come from! But I will not be defeated! I have to remind myself that God is in control, and tell myself to "Take captive every thought and make it obedient to Christ" (2 Cor. 10:5)
and "I am clothed with strength and dignity" (Prov. 31:25)

Braeden participated in the PTA reflections contest this year. The theme was 'Together We Can.' I was so proud of him. He wanted to write about Jean-Marie, the little boy we sponsor in Africa. Braeden wrote about him. If you have a minute to read it, I think it will definitely make you smile...

And then he also did a little project about him. Well, He won second place for the writing and First place for the project. He was so excited!

We had to make a stop by Wal-Mart on the way home from the PTA meeting so he could use his gift card!

Youth Retreat

I never got around to posting about the retreat the kids went to a couple of weeks ago. It was awesome. The theme was 'How to Save a Life.' They even went to a feeding center, prepared dinner and served the people. I think that is something they will never forget!

Family Fun Night

The work week can be pretty busy around here. There is work, school, church, meetings, practices and more. We try to stay connected around here. We usually try to have dinner together at the table most nights. We can discuss the day and just be together. Sophia is joining in now. I guess she has heard it so many times. She will say "So, how was your day guys?" I love it. I declared tonight Family Fun Night. We made pizzas, watched Toy Story 3 and played board games!

Today was our 18th Anniversary! Wow! I've been married for 18 years...We are doing good! Dean and I have known each other since I was like 12, it seems like forever! He is the Best! I am so thankful God put him in my life!

Goodness what a day! I has rained something terrible today. I had already scheduled to be off today but school was cancelled! We had to take Braeden to have a little mucus seal taken off his lip today. And I was just a little nervous when the power went out while he was back there! I was thinking okay this isn't good. But they came out for us a few minutes later and he was already done. So we were led to him by flashlight! Bless his little heart.

We made a little stop to pick up Sophie's "Pink" shoes...

Then a quick drive-thru Chick-fil-a...and she was out before she even finished her nuggets

Braeden brought home a bucket of 'stuff' back this summer when he went to the fossil museum. Today he and Gampa were sifting through it pulling out the sharks teeth.

Today we celebrated Pastor Appreciation Day at Kingdom Life Ministries. It was a great day. We are very thankful for our pastor and his family. They just happen to be my brother-in-law, sister, and niece and nephew! We love you guys!

My Pa told me he had something else that I might want of my Ma's. When he showed me the lamps I was ecstatic! I have been trying to collect pieces of hobnail milk glass. I only have a few little pieces nothing big. He gave me two hobnail lamps! I'm not sure how old they are. I Love them! I brought them home put some bulbs in them and got two little lamp shades to fit. They go perfect in my dining room!
I love that I am putting little pieces of my Ma throughout my home. She will always be a part of my life.

Our dining room is one of the last rooms that I have wanted to change around. I have never painted it. It is just plain white. And I like color! I have had all kinds of ideas but never can decide. And if you know me decisions don't come easy to me! Ha! So I have bought several paint samples trying to decide. If you came over you would see this on the walls....

They have been painted and left. I'm not quite sure how long they all have been there. I haven't forgot about them, it's just... I can't decide! But I think it's time to pick one and get this room fixed up! What do you think...Which one do you like?
