Bye-Bye Bottles

Okay, it has been almost a week since Sophia last had a bottle. Last Friday night, yep I can't believe it. We were gone late Saturday night and she was at mom and dad's and didn't have it there. Then Sunday she didn't ask for one when she got up or went to bed. So I figured we would try since it had been a few days. She has asked for it a few times. I kind of changed the subject and she went on to sleep. Then tonight I was over at Pa's. Dean said she was crying for her bottle. But she ended up going to bed without it. I'm so proud of my sweet baby girl! So maybe now we just have the paci. I think I might wait a bit before trying to take that from her too!

A Lighthouse Keeper

Today was a very hard day. Today Ma was laid to rest. I'm crying as I type this because it hurts so bad. I miss her so much. I can't believe she is gone. If I could just see her once more, hug her, kiss her, spend the day with her, tell her I love her. She was part of who I am. Her service today was so special. Matt did an excellent job of remembering and honoring her. Ma loved lighthouses. Her ancestors were actually lighthouse keepers in Cape Hatteras. So Matt described how Ma was like a lighthouse keeper during her life. She would have been proud. I was asked to speak today. I said yes even though I knew it would be hard. I tried to keep it together the best I could. This is just a piece of what I said today...
"She has left such an impression on all of us. She loved her family so much. They were the world to her. And she would tell us every time she saw us.."I love you, You are so special to me" she would say. A grandmothers love is a special kind of love. Ma taught us many things. Just the way she lived her life in front of us was a remarkable example. I believe Ma's love of God and her devotion to Him was the foundation of her life.
I could go on and on about what kind of woman she was. I could describe her hands to you, tell you about her wonderful smile, share many stories from her past that she has shared with us or how she would have done anything, I mean anything for her grandchildren."

It's hard to describe the array of emotions that I have been feeling. I hear people say it will get better as time goes on. I pray that God will give our family peace during this time and help us heal. I know she is in a wonderful place and she is reunited with loved ones.
We will remember her and keep her legacy going.
I took some pictures today because I wanted to remember this day. I wanted to share just a few...

Ma loved ladybugs. Right after the service at the cemetary, a ladybug flew up and landed right on the flowers!

Ma

She was my Ma. I've spent many days with her. She always had something positive to say and always a smile on her face. I Loved her so much. She passed away today. Oh, how my heart aches. I think I knew this day would come but I wasn't expecting this today. What a shock. She had such a gentle spirit and she will be missed tremendously. I know she is with Jesus now, she is well, she is home. I pray God will give us all the strength we need to get through the coming days.

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven...A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance...

Party Time

I had a little party tonight at the house. Lots of cute bags! A few friends and family came. We had a fun time just enjoying each others company and having a little chocolate!

Playing Ball

I thought this was so sweet. Braeden loves to throw the baseball. And Sophia wanted to get in on the action. He took his time and was throwing the ball with her. She thought she was something else!

Mother's Day

I love celebrating Mother's Day. What an honor! I feel so truly blessed.
Thank you Jesus for these gifts in my life...Madison, Connor, Braeden, and Sophia Claire. Thank you for my mother who is a wonderful Godly example. She taught me how to be the mom I am today. And I am still learning! God, help me each day to be the mother and wife you called me to be.

My kids, with the help of their dad, spoiled me today! I saw this when I got in the van for church.

I was a little confused at first?? Then I figured it out! I got my Sirius radio back! I've been meaning to renew my subscription but haven't ever got around to doing it. Thanks Dean!

The kids each give me a card that reflects their personality. I always get a kick out of them. Here is little Sophia's...

What is it?

I don't know if you can see it too good in this picture. But Braeden came home from a birthday party with this. There were actually two of them. I think maybe it was a salamander. I don't know though. It's not something I see frequently. He begged to keep it. But we had to say no. That thing would have eaten his other lizards. He was a little upset...well very upset. But after a while he understood. You never know what this boy will bring in!
