Weekend Happenings

We have been rolling this weekend! We made a trip to Roanoke Friday and got back around midnight last night. The boys were participating in Junior Talent. Braeden was part of the 'Warrior's For Christ' dance team and Connor entered the art category. Both boys did a fantastic job! I was so proud of them and all of our kids from church who went. It was a quick trip but we had a lot of fun. Madison didn't join us on this trip. She decided to stay with Mamaw and Gampa and then to a friends. This was Sophia's first time staying in a hotel. She went to sleep around 1:30 Friday night and slept until 7. She did great. Although there were a few times when I think she was done with the car seat!

And after seeing so much rain the past few days, I was so excited to see the sun shining today. It was beautiful. I am so looking forward to that more often. Braeden enjoyed playing outside today. For some reason he wanted to dig today. He was even doing this at church. On the way home from church I discovered that he had worms in his pockets! Definitely all boy!

The boys swimming at 11:00 at night!

Braeden trying to entertain Sophie.

Finally gave in to the sleep.

Would you believe we found a Ben & Jerry's!!!

These two were pooped.

This is Connor's picture he drew for the art contest.

This little guy needed a good bath when he came in!

And She Drinks From A Straw...

Anytime Sophie sees someone eating or drinking she wants some. Connor was drinking a pouch drink and she was making her little grunting noises which mean "Give me some." I didn't think she could drink from a straw yet. She sure fooled me. She was slurping that stuff right down.

Monday Afternoon

Well, Spring has officially started! Today was a beautiful day. I'm glad I got to spend some time outside. A little bit at school and then some more when I got home. I have been meaning to buy Sophie a new swing. Since I haven't done it yet we just put up Braeden's old one today. It did the job. Sophia loved it! She just looked around saying "Rock Rock." Her little eyes were watering from the cool air blowing in them. I was trying to take pictures and the sun was in her eyes. So she kept closing them. I think I will have to turn that swing around. Of course Braeden was outside with her. He got a kick out of her in the swing. Every time we would stop her she would make this noise. She didn't want to stop and she was letting us know. I think she is going to love being outside as much as her brothers. Poor Connor was inside this afternoon with a temperature of almost 103! We are praying he feels better soon.

Look at that red ear!

First Grade Is Tough

Spending a day in first grade must be tiring! This is usually what Braeden does when he gets home from school. Some days he is out before we even get home.

Today when he woke up he said "I just needed that little nap." And then he was out the door to enjoy this nice weather.

Yummy Daddy!

I am so thankful that I have a husband who cooks!
I admit it, I don't like to cook. He does.
Dean, You're the BEST!
Tonight's menu: Chicken Broccoli Alfredo
Sophie loved it.

Pictures, Party & Prayer

What a day! It has been a very busy one for us. We started out early this morning for pictures. I was so proud of myself, I was on time..actually got there five minutes early. I walked in and my bubble was burst.."You were scheduled for 10." Somehow I got the times confused. Anyhow, she squeezed us in. Sophie cooperated for a little while. I think we got some good shots of her. I'm glad Dean and Braeden were there to make her smile. Then it was time for all four kids to get their Easter photos taken. Sophie started having a little meltdown. She didn't want to have anymore pictures taken. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there is one good one in there!
Then we were off to get ready for the birthday party.
Mr. Braeden has been seven for a whole two weeks now. He waited patiently for his 'fake' birthday to get here. The party went great. The kids loved going swimming on a cold rainy day!

We got to come home and rest for a bit and then it was off to bible study. Tonight's topic..."Family Prayer." I got some good ideas and look forward to using them.

Recession Fashion

Guess what? Today's post is a little different than usual. I enjoy reading Kelly's blog over at Kelly's Korner. I am a huge fan of hair bows. I love checking out Harpers different ones...so cute! On Wednesday she posted about dressing for less these days. She gave some great tips-Thanks Kelly! She decided to have a 'Linky Party.' She asked her readers to post some of their advice and tips. I've liked reading some of the ideas. So I thought I would join in on the fun and submit some of my ideas.
Since I am buying clothes for four children and myself I really have to be particular on what and where I buy.
Kohls Target Old Navy
Need I say more?
You can find some great deals at these places. I usually look for those great SALES.
I found some cute jeans on the clearance rack at Kohls for like $13. I got these cute tops there too..So for around $30 I got a cute outfit. Kohls is a top pick for cheap cute jewelry too.

My Mom is a great bargain hunter. Look at this cute little shirt for Sophie...$1.60!

Old Navy...who doesn't like it? I like getting things for my boys there. And they have some really cute baby things. They are always having a sale too.
Gymboree has the cutest children's clothes. I still get to buy one of my boys clothes there and of course the baby. They can be pricey but the sales and clearance section are good. I like those $10 and $15 sales.
Target is a fun place to shop. Not very pricey. I got my boys these cute outfits for less than $20 each.

My advice is to take advantage of any FREE money a store may be offering. For example- Kohls Cash, GymBucks, and City Cash. Yes, you probably have to spend a certain amount to receive them but use them by all means before they expire!
And last but not least, coupons are a must. If you get on the mailing list for a store you know you will have some coupons coming your way. One of my most favorite stores is always sending coupons and they have City Cash. This store usually runs great sales a few weeks after a certain line has come out. I just bought some pants for $14.
Well, there you have it, a few tips on how to save a few dollars these days. Things don't have to be expensive to look nice!

Sophie's New Ride

Sophie girl has a new ride! She has graduated from the infant car seat...well not completely...not when she is riding in Dad's truck. Here she is trying it out. I think she likes being turned this way. Not too much longer...almost twenty pounds!

His Name is Scooter

Here is our newest pet...Scooter. I say this with a smile. It's a fish. And Braeden named him Scooter. Connor is still confused on why he chose this name but I'm not questioning it. He chose to buy this with some of his birthday money. He was so excited. I love how just the little simple things..like a $4 fish can bring so much joy!
